Juan Sanchez
Joined our Summer 2018 Research Fellowship
Juan grew up in Puerto Rico surrounded by the ocean, discovering marine life and exploring nature. He graduated from a Bachelors in Biology and it's now doing his master's at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. Due to his passion for the ocean, he started working a few years ago with two CREST CAChE students, Javier Rodríguez Casariego grad student and Alex Mercado post-doc, on the epigenetics of coral reefs. On our REU 2018, he worked at the Eirin-Lopez Environmental Epigenetics lab, to analyze the effects of environmental factors on coral genes and the role of epigenetics during coral recovery.
