In June of 2020, I completed my Bachelor of Science in aquatic biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. My undergraduate research experiences heavily pertained to coral reef ecology and fish physiology as part of the Moorea Coral Reef Long Term Ecological Research Site. Ultimately, my internship with the US Navy Marine Mammal Program, in Point Loma, California, inspired me to pursue a graduate degree focused on acoustics and pelagic marine organisms. As a Ph.D. student in the Marine Ecology and Acoustics Laboratory, I am using SONAR technology to further investigate the density and distributions of mesopelagic micronekton within the deep scattering layer community. I hope to apply my research in mesopelagic fisheries practices, along with deep-sea ecosystem management and disturbance assessment.
