My research focuses on the long-term changes in the distribution and behavior of resident common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in Biscayne Bay in response to anthropogenicthreats and climate change. In collaboration with NOAA's Southeast Fisheries Science Center, we regularly monitor the population by conducting small boat-based surveys throughout the bay several times per month and using photo ID analysis to identify individuals. Using data from 1990 to present day, I am investigating how these small cetaceans respond to changes in their habitats and ecological conditions of the bay.
