Advisor: Dr. Shahin Vassigh

Dean started his career in the steel industry as a welder and fabricator. Later he attended The University of Memphis, where he received a bachelor’s in architecture, and then attended Florida International University, where he received a master’s in architecture. He was awarded the Master's Project of Excellence, which was later featured in Evolo's publication 'Temporal Architecture.' Professionally, he has worked on many projects in his career that have earned AIA design awards including the Exotic Concrete House. These vary from small scale pavilions to single and multi-family residential projects, and to larger historic hospitality renovations. Simultaneously, Dean developed a background with digital fabrication and more specifically 3D printing. Some of those projects and 3D printed work have been displayed in Detroit, New York City, and the Miami Design District. Currently, he is a licensed architect and principal at McMurry & Arguello, a small architecture and landscape practice in Miami, and has taught several years as an adjunct professor at FIU. He is interested in the development of 3D printed concrete, as well as the synthesis of plant material with the built environment; creating spaces that are more conscience of native vegetation and its flourishment.
