LaBua is a PhD student in the Department of Biological Sciences at FIU, advised by Dr. Kevin Boswell. She is an NSF GRFP recipient interested in the nearshore habitats of Pacific herring. Additionally, she is conducting acoustic and genomic examinations on Pacific herring populations to better understand population structure, recruitment, and schooling behaviors.
