Maureen Howard

Maureen has a B.S. in Marine Biology, a minor in Geospatial Technology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a certificate in Geospatial Intelligence Systems (GEOINT) from the United State Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). In her time as an undergraduate she worked on a variety of systems from conserving endangered corals and sea turtles to the sensory biology of a unique vertebrate fish, the summer flounder. Presently, Maureen is pursuing a PhD in Biological Sciences at FIU, investigating both ocular and extraocular visual systems in shrimp. Through her work Maureen hopes to broaden the general understanding of animal sensory perception to help incorporate factors unique to specific species in future conservational efforts.
