I am a master’s student in Dr. John Kominoski’s Ecosystem Ecology Lab. My research focuses on how restoration influences water quality and carbon dynamics in urban waterways. For my thesis, I am evaluating how legacy sediment removal affects dissolved oxygen (DO) and hypoxia in a historically polluted canal (Wagner Creek), and how seasonal and hydrological changes shape dissolved organic matter (DOM) and nutrient dynamics across multiple urban waterways in South Florida. By linking restoration efforts with biogeochemical responses, I aim to improve our understanding of ecosystem function in coastal urban environments.
