My thesis research focuses on the threat of emerging contaminants in red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus), a recreationally important species found throughout Florida. I will analyze muscle samples for the presence of PFAS contaminants using LC-MS/MS. This study will assess the extent of PFAS contamination in red drum across 9 coastal estuaries and evaluate risks to human health via consumption based on local daily intake values.
